Collagen Stimulation & Facial Ageing
At Felicity West Skin Aesthetics, we understand that changes in facial volume, skin firmness and elasticity are a natural part of ageing. Over time, changes in collagen production and the underlying structures of the face can influence facial contours, fullness and overall skin quality.
How does it work?
Collagen is an important structural protein that helps support the skin. As we age, its production and organisation change, contributing to differences in skin firmness and resilience.
Once in the skin, the microscopic particles in the product act as a gentle, stimulant. Your immune system recognizes them and recruits cells called fibroblasts.
These activated fibroblasts build new collagen (mostly Type I) around the particles, increasing skin thickness, firmness, and elasticity of the skin.
Over several months, the microparticles naturally degrade through hydrolysis into lactic acid, and eventually break down into carbon dioxide and water, which your body safely eliminates. What remains is your own newly formed collagen.
What to Expect
Changes associated with collagen stimulation treatment develop gradually rather than immediately. Most achieve full results at 3-6 months post treatment, with results continuing to improve for up to 12 months.
Treatment requires specific massage instructions following the procedure - 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days. Your practitioner will explain the correct technique, duration and frequency. It is important to follow the instructions provided for your particular treatment to reduce complications.
A Considered Approach to Facial Ageing
At FWSA, we believe cosmetic care should enhance rather than change. We prioritise individual assessment, realistic expectations and thoughtful treatment planning, with the aim of achieving an appropriate outcome while respecting your natural features.
If you have noticed changes in facial fullness, skin firmness or facial contours, a consultation can help you understand the factors contributing to these concerns and explore suitable options.
Book a consultation at Felicity West Skin Aesthetics to discuss your concerns and receive personalised guidance in a supportive, pressure-free environment.
Note:
Some cosmetic treatments involve prescription-only medicines and cannot be advertised or promoted to the public under Australian therapeutic goods advertising requirements. A consultation provides an opportunity to discuss your concerns, understand appropriate options and determine a suitable plan for your individual needs.
